Mariam Titilayo Olorunsola You Make Us Proud
Titilayo is currently the Vice President of the Nigerian Youth Alliance (NYA) here in Atlanta. She has been an active member of this organization for the past six year. She has chaired and helped to organize most of the community Service activities of NYA. Those activities include AIDS Walk, Nigerian Cultural Pride Night, packing medical supplies to be shipped to various countries, The Leadership Retreat and the Leadership conference. Titi has helped in coordinating these activities, coming up with the event budget, encouraging members to give their ideas, finding venues to host events etc. For the past few years, Titi has been the main person to assist the organization adults to manage issues within the organization, she knows how to mentor and guide other youth. She was named the 2013 Youth of the Year because of her invaluable contributions to the organization.
Titi worked as an intern this summer at the Clayton County Public Defenders’ Office. She worked with a team of Attorneys to represent Clayton county residents. Her job included conducting initial intakes with walk-in clients and clients in jail. Titi was one of 35 Clayton County Students chosen for this prestigious position out of 3,500 students who applied.
Titi was a member of the International Baccalaureate Program at Lovejoy High School This four year program is designed to educate student in various languages including French and Spanish. Titi studied Spanish four years in High School. The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end the organization works with schools, governments and international organizations to develop challenging programs of international education and rigorous assessment.
Titi is a premier youth leader. She has been able to lead and mentor others, not just in the Nigerian youth organization but at her school. She was a Teachers’ Assistance at her school for two years. She helped to organize a community event in Clayton county to encourage pre-schoolers to stay in school.
Titi is presently a freshman at University of Georgia, Athens.
Mariam Titilayo Olorunsola was recognized as the 2013 Youth of Excellence by the Association of Nigerian Organizations of Georgia.
