Nigerian Youth Alliance, Inc
"Preparing Leaders and Bridging The Gap"
The first program conducted by the Nigerian Youth Alliance in 1999 was the Biennial Leadership Conference. Over 200 youth attended that initial conference. Our focus was to learn about the rich culture of Nigeria and its people. That conference opened the doors for youth of Nigerian descent to network and share information with each other. Since then, hundreds of youth have taken part in this important and fun gathering.
The Annual Retreat is where the members spend time learning about problem solving and critical thinking skills. Presenters from all works of life participate in teaching our youth the essential of success. The youth are taught specific tools and techniques that increase their opportunity for greater productivity.
Every Year, NYA organizes a community celebration to recognize the high school seniors and those members graduating from college and post graduate studies. Scholarships are awarded to individual members for community service involvement and educational excellence. Since 2001, NYA, in collaboration with numerous community organizations have awarded thousands of dollars to the youth.
The youth and Alumni love the cultural Pride Night. Members rehearse for weeks the various aspects of Nigerian culture. Members usually perform original poems, plays about Nigerian lifestyle, variety of cultural dances and songs. The show is open to the public to witness the beautiful culture of our country. NYA believes that it is indeed a privilege to be a Nigerian.
The Lock In and End of the Year Party were established to give members the opportunity to network and have fun together
The Field Day Activities include the Basketball tournaments, powder puff games etc. Members and their friends gather every year to play together and have fun together.
